Notes From a Calm Launch
We shipped this morning at 9:14, and nothing caught fire. That still surprises me.
The difference was boring preparation. We froze the feature list ten days out, wrote the rollback steps before we needed them, and ran the migration against a copy of production twice. On launch day there were three people on the call instead of eleven, and the loudest moment was someone's kettle.
Numbers, since they're the honest part: 41 minutes from first deploy to green dashboards, two small fixes (a stale cache header, a mis-sorted list), zero rollbacks. Support got nine tickets, all questions rather than breakage.
Calm isn't luck. It's the stuff you did in week one, finally paying out.
